Personality: Nereus is a kindhearted man who goes out of his way to help other trainers better themselves. When it comes to battle he always goes all out, deeming it an insult to another's skill if you don't face them with all of your power.
History: Nereus served as a lifeguard in Susanoo Port for many years, saving the lives of many people from the unforgiving, harsh waters of the local beaches during storm season. He became a rather popular figure, often seen surfing even the worst waves, almost unaffected by their destructive nature. He became known locally as the "God of the Sea", though this was obviously just a nickname, for his uncanny nature to navigate the sea. Eventually for recognition of his service he was made the Gym Leader, his Gym being built right on the shore so he could still see when people needed help.
